From my ranch in the Texas Hill Country, I create various items for the women in our life - some I know, some I will never meet.
My sweet, dear mother began teaching me to sew when I was old enough to sit on her lap as she sat at the machine making me, and my dolls, clothes for all occasions.
I'm blessed to be from a family of excellent, award winning seamstresses, learning something from all the women!
Sewing is my first love. Yet I thoroughly enjoy working with other mediums, too. I always want to learn something new.
I know how to crochet, but knitting has alluded me! I've even had my step-daughter's mother try to teach me! It's like patting my head and rubbing circles on my stomach at the same time. Knit stitch, I'm okay with. Pearl stitch I can do. Mixing the two - forget it! Repair a slipped stitch several rows back, not gonna happen!
Tatting is something I'd love to learn and is on my bucket list. I have a friend that creates awesome pieces and she's inspired me to learn the craft! Thanks, Becky!
Thanks to Momma, I have a spinning wheel and BUNCHES of roving, but haven't produced anything in ages. It's also on my to-do list.
I had to give up hand quilting a few years back. Just couldn't do it anymore once Rheumatoid Arthritis settled in my hands. I'm thrilled a dear lady outside Dallas bought my Grace quilting frame and I understand she's thoroughly enjoying the convenience it brings!
Regarding writing stories, it's been a while since my first two were published. I have several fiction and one non-fiction book in various stages of completion. I need to learn better time management skills! There are so many things I want to do during the day!
I started this blog to share my journey of building Lanetta's Creations into a viable business, rather than a simple hobby of passions. I also wanted a place to offer an array of sewing tips and suggestions, instructions to create simple sewing projects, and links to others I've found informative. At times I write about what inspires me to create for the women of all ages who grace our lives.
All creative endeavors are done in a smoke-free, pet-friendly environment! Our girls help me tremendously!
I hope you enjoy! And, I hope you leave a comment whenever it strikes your fancy! I cannot tell you how much reading a comment makes my day!
