Christmas in July!

Yes! It’s "Christmas in July" at Lanetta’s Creations! All items in my studio are 30% off! This is just a small sampling of the Handmade in Texas products I create!

An item available are the Apron Oven Door Towels. This is one of my favorites:

If you’re familiar with Lanetta’s Creations, you know I love making clothes for the 18 inch doll like American Girl and Chatty Cathy and the Gotz girl! Although it’s over 100 degrees outside right now (because it is July and it is Texas), this Dress Coat is one of my favorites:

Oh, and once I received a Kindle Fire, I began creating e-Reader Covers to fit it and the NOOK, or smaller devices! I currently have one for Cat lovers, Dog lovers, a Sassy Zebra, Coffee lovers, a Camo, from re-purposed jeans, Texas Bluebonnets, and – of course (because it’s my High School Mascot!) – the Leopard:

I also have a nice selection of aprons at Lanetta’s Creations! Some are for children, for women, or for either man or woman! One waist apron also has a matching bonnet! Bonnets aren’t just for Grandmothers!

Stop my studio before the end of July and take advantage of the Christmas in July Sale!

Original Articles Found!

Ah! Yesterday I realized my original blog over on ArtFire, somehow all the articles I'd published in 2010 & part of 2011 (before I threw up my hands and came over here totally) were in "draft" mode! Meaning no one but myself could see/read them! Bummer! Anyhoo... I've created a new page here "Lost Articles Found" (I know, clever title!) and am working on transferring everything onto one long long page! I can't figure out a better way!

Right now I'm focusing on the words and links and will add photos later. I don't know if anyone will ever go and read the page, but I want it there for safe keeping. It's part of me, of Lanetta's Creations. I'm not sure how much longer I will have the ArtFire studio. I'll always have blogger!

Bless its heart, Blogger keeps choking as I've had to reboot twice! Maybe a different site altogether would be better? I don't want to slow down the upload for anyone when waiting for the current postings. What do you think?

Restoring Lost Articles

I'm working on restoring the original articles I published in 2010 on another site. They all disappeared from public view (thanks, not!). I'll create a new page here and will let you know as soon as I know!

Because September is National Sewing Month, I started with September 2010, copy/paste my daily posts. I'll fill in and add to (with more pictures and links) as soon as possible! Thanks for your support and I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience!

This will be a long page, especially after I've included the remaining 25 articles! Maybe I can figure out a different method, but that's for another day.

Side note: It was interesting re-reading what I wrote in 2010.

Re-Thinking the Business Side

There are many things I love to create, and much more items I want to learn how to make (and will!), but I need to re-think the business side of Lanetta’s Creations. So, a couple of weeks ago, I came to a decision. Then while driving home yesterday from the *Lampasas Mystery Book Club gathering, I became more and more excited about the decision to concentrate primarily on creating doll clothes, and all things associated with dolls, like the American Girl, Vintage Chatty Cathy, and Gotz!

*Email me if you would like more information about the Lampasas Mystery Book Club,
i.e. upcoming books we’re reading, where/when, etc.

Although I will still make aprons – as I love creating aprons – I plan to focus on only special requests/orders rather than creating “spec” aprons. Email me!

To make shopping for aprons easier, I have three different sections in my ArtFire Studio:

And, right now, everything in my shop is on sale!!!
It’s Christmas in July, indeed!

All bead work will remain listed in my shop; however, I will not be creating any new designs.

The e-Reader Covers and Apron Oven Door Towels will also remain at Lanetta’s Creations. Although I can’t see making more in the near future, I welcome the opportunity to create special orders in specific colors/prints and sizes! Simply send me an email!

I already have a nice selection of American Girl inspired 18” doll clothes and for the 15” dolls (like Bitty Baby) in my ArtFire Studio!
Some of the clothes pictured here have already been sold!

Anyhoo… must get busy marking things off my “to-do” list!

If you’re looking for me, I’m out in the barn building a doll bed to showcase more doll quilts! My dear husband’s helping me and we’re considering offering doll beds in the future!

Would you be interested in a doll bed for 18" dolls?

Blog Tours

Have you ever taken a blog tour? I just completed one hosted by Sewing with Nancy and various contributors. I thoroughly enjoyed learning different sewing and embellishment techniques. The focus was on doll clothes but all aspects shared would apply to fashion sewing for children and adults as well. I touched on it in my last blog post.

Today, I stumbled upon a video blog tour hosted by Sew Beautiful Magazine over Basic Heirloom Techniques.
I had done a search for a specific technique I plan to start implementing in some of my doll dresses. After watching how to do Pintucking, I accidentally found this tour!!! I immediately subscribed to their videos, wanting to keep up with their offerings! Then I went down their list of videos and found Part 1, 1 of 3.

Yes! I’m going to start at the beginning! Oh, learning different techniques is such an awesome thing!

P.S. If you've taken a blog tour, please share the link with us!

Do you watch?

Although I haven’t in years, here lately I’ve been watching Sewing with Nancy on PBS (click here to find out when she’s on in your area). Because of the wealth of information provided, I record the episode if I happen to be away from the television. Due to bandwidth limitations here, I don’t watch her via online, but you may be able to watch! I always learn something new. Usually she offers tips to make something I basically know how to do much easier or quicker. And, as Martha Stewart says, “It’s a Good Thing.”

I also enjoy Nancy Zieman’s blog and Facebook page!

A couple of days ago, I went to her site and came across her 30-Minute Doll Clothes Blog Tour – Day 1 (dated July 10, 2012). I wasn’t too late to join the tour! I caught up quickly and each day look forward to discovering and reading other’s quick tips and embellishment techniques on doll clothes! Of course, I ordered her new book and dvd! I can hardly wait until it arrives!

Happy Sewing!

It's a Wrap

Yes! The first ever So Sew Etc’s Sewing Camp 101 is a wrap! We now have five Next Generation Sewists among us. I’m extremely thankful all details necessary to pull it off came together so quickly and we had the camp this summer. My goodness! It totally surprised me!

I originally wrote about Sewing Camp 101 back on June 4th. Once the camp began, I updated everyone with the daily events. Here are the links if you missed them:

The participants even made the local paper! NOTE: It takes 2 weeks before those without subscriptions can see it online. Hopefully in another few days, click here then search for “Sew Much Fun” (the article headline.) But, I scanned a copy from the original paper…

What I haven’t mentioned before, and I don’t know if you caught it – we didn’t get to make the waist apron during the “official” week of Sewing Camp 101. I felt really bad about this. I couldn’t let it not happen! All the participants wanted to make the apron as well as the other projects they did do. Each one had selected and bought the fabric for it. I couldn’t let them down.

So… beginning July 3rd and finishing up yesterday… everyone now has an apron! We now have thoroughly Happy Campers! (Including me!)

Met with #1 in her home… no camera available during the process (poot!) But, Mom did snap one later & post on Facebook for me:

Met with siblings #2 & # 3 here at Lanetta’s Creations:

Met with #4 here at Lanetta’s Creations:

Met with #5 at the First Texas Bank in Lampasas:

Ta Da !!!!

Check out the photo album on So Sew Etc Facebook page! Awesome pictures of work in progress and completed projects.

Happy Independence Day

I sincerely hope everyone who calls the U.S.A. home – no matter where you happened to be right this very moment – has had a grand day. We are so very blessed to be Americans! I pray for a safe evening and return home for anyone out and about tonight.

What did you do to celebrate our nation’s independence?

It was quite around here. A good time to reflect …
